    Did you do the black shading of the fabric folds before you added the color? I think that color gradation might have been more effective in this case. The organic contours of the black field are threatening. The figure continues to be abstracted from itself, with the exception of the flowing hair. The cocooning and sensuality of the red is a compelling relief from those tensions. It’s just rendered harsh by the black shading.
