#Dollcember – 24 Light

Through December I will be designing a series of dolls.  I can’t help myself, I have become obsessed with watching doll repaints on YouTube, in particular Dollightful.  The colours, the tiny outfits, the cool concept art, they have my inner six year old bouncing off the wall.

Unfortunately I have no patience for actually doing doll repaints.  I do however know how to draw so I am joining in the way I best know how.

So here’s today’s offering.  And if there are any doll face up artists out there who want to share their work, then please leave a comment below.  I am totally primed to love what you are are doing right now 🙂

Rounding up the series are 6 Biggies.  Today the shining star is light.

Picasso had his blue period. You have….?!?!?!

I am impressed by the consistency of style. This is the first one that departs from the full-figure, and it shows greater polish. Have you been saving this up from earlier in the month, or are you just moving on from your proof-of-concept work?

the gender bias would make you a target of Cancel Culture here in the states. Does dollightful have male dolls?

Not sure what this is, a fun bit of distraction from the burning wreck of 2020?

That’s fair, I think Dollightful does have a lot more variety but to be honest, I find myself rarely called to draw mae figures. I just fidn the female form more interestign to connect with creatively as a woman myself… at least it makes a change from nude female figures drawn by predominantly men.
